Cargo Cosmetics palette review.

Tuesday, 2 August 2016

cargo cosmetics 'Shanghai nights' palette.

Packaging, price and external details.

Girls, guys, let me introduce you to this little beauty that cargo cosmetics kindly brought into our world, it goes by the name of the shanghai nights palette.

This palette retails for around £35 and among other places can be purchased on Beauty Bay, I've  been told by a few people that they are able to find this in their local TK- MAX for...wait for it... £9.99! so its defiantly worth just checking in there first as you could save yourself a massive £25, but I mean lets be honest, it will only be spent on more makeup anyway!

The packaging alone is simply gorgeous, this is my first product from cargo and I must say I'm very impressed! I don't know about you but I think packaging is equally important as the actual product because I mean, the product could be amazing but if it smashes while you're walking the dog? The Too Faced chocolate bars are a prime example of this, the tin packaging makes the palettes very prone to breaking.
This to me is my perfect packaging, I feel like if I took this traveling there's no way my shadows would smash but it's also magnetic and has a flexible hinge so the 'lid' bends right back, much like the naked 1 palette!

The palette also has a fairly large mirror which to me is very important in a palette, it doesn't bother me as much in blushes/foundations etc, but in an eyeshadow palate I feel like they are vital, most palettes are chunky enough as it is without having to carry round a decent sized mirror as well...can I get a 'hell yeah'?

Inside the palette!

This beauty has 12 unique shades including,

4 mattes//   (Wai Tai, Skyline, Bund and Hu),
5 metallic shades//  (Lychee, Jin Mao, Street Style, Ginger, Jade),
2 //  satin shades (Neon, Bar Rouge)
1 glitter shade// (Night Life)                                                      .

This palette is so versatile, the choice of shades means you have the option of creating both a neutral or dramatic look which again makes it great for traveling, although if you are anything like me, you will still end up taking 4 other palettes knowing full well you wont use them, just in case!

Each pan contains 0.8g (or 0.03oz) which is slightly less than a mac single shadow so a fairly good size considering each shade works out at just under £3 compared to £10 in mac. The palette also comes with a double ended brush but sadly being the idiot i am i forgot to take a picture, my brush actually broke before i used it but ive glued it back together and its an ok brush, one side is a fluffy brush and the other is a thick brow like brush!

The inside of this palette kinda gives me Anastasia of Beverly Hills feels but I don't think it's suppose to be a dupe for it, although I could be wrong so let me know I'm the comments.
.
As you can probably tell the shade 'ginger' is my favourite and I've used it for the last week every single day, it's such a beautiful shade for summer and even though the heat it's clung on, 'hu' is another great one for an all over base as its light enough to make the colours pop without making you look like you've decided you want that drag queen glam!

swatches/formulae.

Before we get into the swatches I just wanted to say, please excuse my god awful fake tan in this picture, I can assure you it didn't look that bad in person (it defiantly did who am I kidding?).

The swatches are just one minimal pressure single swipe of the shadow with no shadow base or primer underneath so as you can see the colour payoff is very impressive, something which I didn't expect, for some reason I expected them to be lacking pigmentation and just have like a glittery top layer, oh how wrong I was!

On first impressions I found that the shades are incredibly buttery and 99% of the shades had an even pay off which is buildable, I also didn't get any fall out from any of the shades which to me is important as i like to do my eye makeup after my foundation, (please don't shoot me beauty gurus!) so unless I'm playing the leading role in the black swan, i don't want black dots all over my face.
I especially love the formulae of the metallic shades, I would go as far as saying they are actually some of the best eyeshades I have tried, which is a very bold statement!

Now, without sounding like a picky Polly I want to talk about the problems I occurred with this palette,  As you may be able to see the blue shade did come off a little streaky, this may be rectified with another layer but I cant confirm that, although I can say that it was the only shade that did come out patchy, none of the other mattes had this problem.

You may also be able to see that the second from left shade 'hu' does swatch a bit chalky, however this wasn't something I noticed when applying to my eye and I don't recall any fall out from this shade so it may just be that I picked up too much product!

Is it bosh or worth the dosh?

well I mean its pretty obvious what I'm going to say to this, yes yes yes yes! this palette is so worth your money, especially if you manage to get it for £10.
Not only is the shadow formulae to die for, the palette is clearly very well made, its hard to find the perfect travel palette but cargo have hit the nail on the head with this one.

Ahh now its down to you guys! has anyone got any other cargo products that they can recommend to me? I've been eyeing up the other palettes but its so hard to choose, although they sell themselves with packaging alone!

Thankyou for taking the time to check out my blog! until next time, have a beautiful day

Life update&The relationship tag!

HI GUYS! so a lot has changed since the last time I've posted on this blog, ive had a really tough couple of months and really took a step back from social media and it's honestly done me the world of good, although I'm super happy to be back! I started a new Instagram @clolaurenn which already has 1,500 followers, like what?! I'm not even that interesting am I? I'm also now part of a blogger group with some amazing girls in and am receiving so much love and support, I just feel  really accepted by the beauty blogger community and although I'm no zoella, I'm defiantly getting there!

I've also just finished my first year of travel and tourism at college, I didn't excellent plan on doing 4 years of college but I really didn't enjoy my first 2 years and travel and aviation has always been a massive passion so I thought while I still had the amazing opertunity of free education I enrolled and I am loving every second of it, it feel so good to finally know what I want to do.

〰〰〰〰〰〰〰
I've decided to do the relationship tag because I want you guys to really get to know me more and my boyfriend is honestly the most important part of my life, I've never really had that close family bond with anyone apart from my grandad but I only like to tell him positive things and not bring him down, althoughI know he would 10000% be there in a heartbeat!
Anxiety and a depressive mindset can be such a heart thing to try and explain to anyone but he really tries to understand, and when he can't even try to understand he will just be there and I'm so lucky to have such an amazing soul in my life and I'm so great full to share every memory with him

Also I know you're suppose to ask him the questions but he's so camera shy so I figured I'd just answer the questions myself!

My boyfriend is called Martin, he is 19 years old and is a self employed builder in a family run business with his cousin, I'm so proud of him for doing so well and more importantly he loves what he does! He has the biggest heart and is so family orientated which is what I love about him!

Anyway, enough of me wittering, here's the.... BOYFRIEND TAGGGGG.

〰〰〰〰〰〰〰

*cue mastermind theme tune*

1. where did we meet? ||| we actually met the good old fashioned way and it's actually a super cute story, I'm the summer loads of groups of people from the town I live in all hang out on a big field called 'town park'... Genius name I know ahah, but anyway the field is full of groups of people having picnics, camping, singing, playing football etc and his group of friends asked my group of friend to come and sit with them, we no joke never left each other's sides from that moment and spend 26 days and nights in a row together, everyone told us 'you'll get bored of each other' 'it's the honey moon period' but 2 years on we're still insepritable!

2. what was our first date?   ||| Our first date was to the sea life centre as he knew I loved the ocean and sea life, although I was so poorly and was sick on the way home! How embarrassing!

3. where was our first kiss and how was it? ||| Our first Kiss was... On the first day we met (sorry!) in my bed room (sorry!), no that sounds a lot worse that what it was actually like don't worry! It's was 3am and he had walked me the over an hour walk home, it was CHUCKING it down so I let him sleep in my sisters room (my family were hardly home), he gave me a kiss goodnight and waited for me to fall asleep before going to bed.

4. did u know that he was the one || I honestly can't remember my first impressions, although I do remember trying to sneak a picture of him to show my friends which if I can find I'll insert it! I had quite low self asteem and was used to being messed around so probably not at first, after the first week or so though I knew it wasn't just a summer romance!

5. when did u meet the family ||| omg guys honestly I'm so glad this is a question! So he told me we were going to his to get his coat, I walked in and there was a massive family party, I could have literally died! They were all expecting me as well, I was so nervous but it actually turned out to be such a good night and I love them all so much now!

6. do we have a tradition ||| I have so many in my head right now! But my favourite ones are, taking a kissing selfie at 12 on New Years, watching 'how I met your mother' every Sunday morning, giving each other presents the day before our birthdays and we both Solomly (is that even the right word) to take a picture of any crocs and socks we see!

8. what was our first roadtrip ||| So I was going away on holiday 2 weeks after we met with my god mom who's a foster career, one of her kids couldn't come at last minute so Martin came instead, so I guess Greece in 2014!

9. who said i love u first? ||| Martin said it first, he said good night every single night then one day put 'night I love you'

10. what do we argue about the most |||  Probably over not putting things in the wardrobe for me and then for him watching YouTube videos too loud!

Martin is answering these questions about me by himself, I'll put a y/n!

14. whats the one food dont i like || 'you're so fussy so it's easy, but chillie ' ~ Y
15. we go out to eat what do i get to drink || 'j20 and lemonaid ' ~ y
16. what size shoe do i wear ||| ' 3?' ~ Wrong, I'm a 4, although he did plead me to say he got it right!
17. if i was collecting anything what would it be ~ 'postcards' ~ Y
19. what would i eat everyday if i could ~ 'mash potato' ~y

so that's it! Now you know all their is to know about my relash with m dawg... Joking! But I hope youve enjoyed this post and if you've got his far leave a comment below saying 'I love Moldy cheese' !:)

thanks for reading!

Sigma Mr.Bunny review.

A while ago now I managed to get my hand on these Sigma Mr bunny brush set, I had never tried any Sigma brushes before so didn't really know what to expect, they cost around £117 I believe so a bit of a pricey purchase so to help you guys I thought I'd give them a bit of a review before you splash the cash!

Appearance.

I'm mixed on this, I mean the packaging is Beautiful, the box itself has been so well thought of and is defiantly keep worthy, especially impressed by then card 'ribbon' on the top of the box, a nice little bit of detail which gives a more expensive feel to them.

The brushes also look very luxury and expensive, I'm a hater of matte wood so the shine on the brushes wood makes me very happy, I'm also a big fan of the holographic print which the text is wrote in, very easy to read and so far, has lasted with no rub off!
The sigma logo is also engraved into the metal of the brush, again a small bit of detail which doesn't go un noticed. The colouring however is not AS  impressive, I just feel like black an silver is so common on a makeup brush, am I right?

Quality.

THEY'RE SO FLUFFY IM GONNA DIE! no but seriously, the quality of these brushes is amazing! I was expecting good things but they honestly exceeded my expectations, the brush quality can not be at fault.
Not one hair has fell out my brushes since I got them 3 months ago, I have also since brought another set, ( the Jaqueline Hill set) and the quality is just as good so I recommend these to anyone, yes they may have been over £100 but they will last many years and the set includes a brush for every desire so how can you not?
The holographic text on the brush has also not shown any signs of warring off, even after being thrown around in my makeup bag and in the mouth of a 4 year old.
Over all, I'm VERY impressed with the quality of these brushes.

Worth the money?

One hundred percent yes they are worth the money, the brushes are available in blue or black I believe so a bit of choice there. They are around £117 for the set of 12 which works out around £10 per brush, slightly more than a RT brush but a lot better quality than a RT brush.
I will recommend these till the day I die so treat yourself girls and boys!:)

My newest addiction?

The sims 4.

So recently I have been LOVING the sims, I've been a dedicated simmer since sims 2 but had hesitations of getting the sims 4 due to spending so much money on the sims 3 ( proud owner of every expansion pack) and hearing bad reviews on the sims 4, but then it was on sale so I mean...here I am.
At the minute I prefer building, mainly rooms which I can then upload to the gallery, but I do fluctuate between lets play and building but I feel lets play is still just not right, the lack of toddlers on the game has hit me, as well as many others, hard, its just not right! One of my favourite parts of the game was having toddlers and teaching them to walk, talk and use the toilet, every one of my families had a toddler in it and without them...well its boring, am I right? pushing them around in their strollers made life ok.
What I am loving about sims 4 though is the amount of updates, the 16th anniversary update has just came out with some special features and objects added to the game including gardeners available to hire, the graphics have also vastly improved making game play feel more realistic.
I only currently own the Get to Work expansion pack and the outdoor retreat but I can honestly say I love them both and have been very impressed, I love going to work with my sim and heling him/she get a promotion, although I also feel the jobs are very boyish and there is only 3 of them!

confession 1.

Ok so first a confession, I am a modder, my sims 4 is riddled with custom content and the collection gets bigger every day, when I see that new rug set I just cant say no! I know some people are so against it but I just feel like as there's no unlimited design tool in this game I have to download it for more variety, plus I think I can make the rooms more personalised.

Most my custom content is from either Tumblr or The sims resource so if you are a fellow cc'er then be sure to check them out!

confession 2.

Hands in the air... I'm a cheater! first what I like to call the white lie cheats, the cheats that don't effect the game lay but still makes life easier, 'bb.moveobjects' is my holy grail, it is a life saver and my room builds really wouldn't look as good without it, I'm a clutter maniac, although I never used this cheat in the sims 3 due to not understanding it, but thanks to the youtuber, James Turner (simsupply) I now know!
'freerealestate on' THE STRUGGLE IS TOO REAL, when you make a gorgeous house, and then the perfectly crafted family to move in, but they cant afford it... heart-breaking, some pro's to me though, I do only use this cheat for families specially made for certain houses.
The last white lie cheat I use is 'showhiddenobjects', this cheat makes all the objects in the game available to buy, ie, pregnancy tests, glasses of water, seeds, food ect, I use this cheat as it unlocks invisible lights, I HATE the lights available on the game so this is just an easy option until they help a gal out.

Now to the big guy, 'testingcheats on', this cheat was used by me in every single game without fail in the sims 3 so thank god they have shortened it! although I don't think the cheat does as much as it did in the sims 3 it still makes it so you can keep sims happy, allowing you to do what you want to do with them without them dying while thinking of a grilled cheese!

IM NOT 100% SURE OF MY SIMS GALLERY ID BUT I WILL PUT IT IN THE COMMENTS WHEN I NEXT PLAY! ALSO BE SURE TO COMMENT YOURS SO I CAN CHECK OUT YOUR CREATIONS!

HAPPY SIMMING GUYS.

POUND FINDS

I am a massive fan of budget makeup and with pound lands now stocking branded makeup and drugstore brands getting better and better it's so easy to pick up and good bargain, here's a few I found while out today.

Rimmel scandeleyes liquid eye shadows

I was surprised to find these in my local poundland and I LOVE them, the pigmentation is amazing and the colours are really beautiful, I have a few already brought at full price from superdrug so was very happy to find them for £1. They're easily blendable and hardly crease, I feel like I don't need to use an eyeshadow primer before using these because they're just that good.

Maybelline colour show

I see these all the time in pound worlds/lands everywhere, i was looking for a stoney shade and I feel like pound shops are especially good for nail polishes as they can be really pricey from the drugstore and they stock loads a variety of colours and brands. This polish is in the shade 'bare it all' and I'm really happy with it

Make up revolution lipsticks

If you haven't heard of makeup revolution by now I'm just going to assume you're living under a rock in Zimbabwe or something idk but this brand is AMAZING, I think it's most popular because of the high quality dupes it produces, but anyway back on to the topic... Mur lipsticks are only £1! The quality of these are so good 97% of the time although very varely there will be one or 2 that slightly slack in pigmentation but like I said that's very rare and for a pound, I mean.. Come on?! I brought the shade 'vice' as I don't own any bright orange shade lippies and I've used it nearly every day since so 10/10

I hope you enjoyed this post, I tried to do something a little different based on the kind of stuff I like reading soo yeah, feel free to comment any of your pound bargains or any opinions as I'm still new at this and could do with any tips and tricks I can get!

Dupe or Dont?

Wednesday, 12 August 2015

Who isn't a fan of a good bargain? Dupes are everyone's best friend but maybe we're not picky enough when labelling something as one, in posts labeled 'dupe or don't' I will be looking at raved about possible dupes and giving my opinion on the similarities (pros) and the differences (cons) then decided whether in my opinion the product is a good dupe. This week it's the makeup revolution iconic pallets as dupes for the urban decay naked pallets.

pros..

First of all the makeup revolution pallets are £4 each! I mean come on that's hardly breaking the bank guys, also just like the naked pallets you get 12 shades which literally makes it 33p ish per shade. Now to the actual colours and pigmentation, As far as I can tell the shades are practically identical to the naked pallets and are even in the same order, the pigmentation is sooo good aswell to the point where if you done a look on one eye with the make up revaluation pallet and the same look on the other eye using the naked pallet you would struggle to tell them apart.

Cons..

It's difficult to find any cons with this pallet as it really is amazing, what I will say though is the pigmentation, although being really good, is obviously not as pigmented  as the naked pallet, also I think you'll agree with me when I say the naked pallets are much nicer to look at as the packaging is more thought of.

So, If you were thinking of forking out £40ish for the naked pallets in my opinion don't bother, the differences between the pallets are minimal so you will basically be paying out £36 for pretty packaging. The makeup revolution pallets are 100% a dupe and well worth your money.

1. Gingerbread Yankee Candle

What would a bloggers wish list be like without a yankee candle, I mean, is that even allowed? But in all seriousness I am need of a new one, my current candle is on its last leg to the point of burning fingers while lighting it. My 2 favourite smells are vanilla and gingerbread but as autumn is slowly creeping in I thought it would be more appropriate for an more autumnmy (that is so a word) smell. you can buy this here.

2. ikea cushion cover

A pretty simple one really, I've recently re decorated my room and Im kinda thinking its 'too' white, like think mental asylum, think joey Essex teeth! a simple monochrome pillow too break it up a little and im sure this is £9, you can buy this here.

3. vanity mirror.

I've wanted one of these for so long for on top of my dresser but for some reason I can never remember to actually get one, but im planning to go to ikea soon  so fingers crossed that I remember! this is £3.50 and you can buy this here.

4. ultra contour pallet.

This literally came out like 2 weeks ago yet its so raved about  im seeing this pallet everywhere and for good reason to! I have been hoping and praying for a good ABH powder contour pallet dupe for so long and surprise surprise makeup revolution answered my prayers, im so excited to pick this up as soon as it comes in stores. This is £8 can buy this here.

5. white leather court shoe.

Again another pretty simple one but I recently brought these in black and im in love with them, surprisingly so comfy and have became my staple footwear so cant wait to pick up the white pair, plus they're on sale for £18. you can buy this here.

6. Micheal Kors watch.

Being extremely white gal rn, but I feel like im the only person that doesn't don't..doesn't, ok well the point is I don't have one and I really want one, I am a massive fan of Michael Kors and you can't really go wrong with rose gold. This ones a little pricey nut you can buy this here.

 Top 3 mascaras.

So I think like most guys or gals out there I struggle with finding a good mascara that works for me, spending on average £8/9 each time just for it to be placed in a draw until its found again 2 months later all dried up like a fish in the Sahara. BUT WAIT, that's right there is now hope, hope to save you some Wonga, some dosh, SOME MONEY! These are in my opinion the top 3 mascaras out there right now. FYI, my eyes are slightly rounded and slightly hooded, my eyelashes are short to medium but I have a hella lot.

Benefit 'They're Real!' mascara

Ok, so first up is the ultra famous mascara from Benefit cosmetics that claims to make my Miley Stewart lashes turn into Hannah Montana for the, not so, small price of £18..ish. I was so reluctant to buy this around the time it first came out as I was just constantly  shoving on a pair of falsies and not really bothering with mascaras but since then I have repurchased twice and I want to say this is the wonder product that prized me away from wearing falsies everyday. What sets this apart from the rest and kinda makes it unique to me is the shape of the brush, I had never really saw that in any other mascara, (if you haven't saw..seen...saw, idk but basically its like a normal thin mascara wand with a spikey ball on the end) and since my lashes are quite spread out I feel like the shape helps get all of them without making them look clumpy or spidery. Its a 10/10 from me!

Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara

*ALERT, THIS POST CONTAINS ONE GIRL JUMPING ON THE BANDWAGON*
This Mascara blew up out of nowhere and spread like black death so after constantly seeing it being raved about I caved in and brought it. This cost me £7.99 but as its still new I am sure there will be some sort of offers on it if you look around. This mascara is as good as, if not better than most the high end makeup brand mascaras on the market at the minute, and again has a unique shaped brush (which im literally not even going to try and describe). After using this my lashes looked so Kim K, they were so spread out and every single lash had just the right amount of product on. I could see a massive difference in the length of my lashes just after one application and it seamed to last all day although the one I got was not waterproof.  I highly recommend this guys!

Rimmel Volume Flash The MAX Mascara

I have been using and raving about this mascara since the 14 year old clumpy spider lash back combed hair stage although now, thankfully, I can use apply it properly and Im 99% sure boots still stock this mascara for around £6.50 so if you see it pick it up and give it a go, I promise you will not be disappointed. I don't have much to say about this apart from the fact that this mascara is the underdog, it deserves so much more attention because it literally makes your eyelashes look amazing, the formula for this was mixed by angles I swear!

This post is my personal opinion of products that work for me, so feel free to comment your own opinions of any of the products mentioned or any other products bellow.
