Brand review, BeautyUk

Thursday, 23 March 2017

Beauty UK is a brand that has a place in my heart as its the brand that I had in my college kit while on my makeup artistry kit, alongside with MUA it was some of the first makeup I ever brought... so I guess you could say they're to blame for my make obsession yeah.
BeautyUk brand review.I was lucky enough to be sent some bits from BeautyUK to try out and I'm excited to tell you all about the products I received!

BeautyUk brand review.
A few weeks back I received a lipstick from another brand in a similar shade to this and since then I've been craving plum toned lipsticks, a far cry away from the skin-toned nudes I used to wear daily. This shade will also be absolutely perfect for spring/summer.
One of the first things I noticed about this lipstick is how incredibly buttery it is, oh my lord, I cant even describe how nice and smooth this feels on your lips.
The lipstick also comes with a screw off lid containing a fair amount of a gloss version of the lipstick which is a nice little touch, especially when you think of how little you're paying for the product!

BeautyUk brand review.

This product instantly reminded me of the collection glitter liners which I absolutely adore, so I knew from the start that this would be my favourite product.
I don't know about you but honestly, I don't have time to apply glitter glue and pigment while doing my daily makeup routine, hence why these are just so darn good; they give the same effect, yet are so simple and easy to use!
I received the shade 'gold' and have already ordered the silver shade... for £2.99 I couldn't not, the glitter literally does not budge all day.

BeautyUk brand review.
A few weeks back I was watching a mini brow tutorial on Instagram and the girl was using a product just like this, I'm unsure of the brand she used but all I knew was that I needed to find a brow felt tip... praise the lord for BeautyUK.
This is the HD brow eyeliner and it is exactly what I was looking for, as the tip is so thin I'm able to draw on my 'brow hairs' lightly apposed to a hard crayon or thick shadow.
So many people have asked me what I use on my brows since I've been using this and one of the main compliments I get is that they look natural, what more could a gal want?

BeautyUk brand review.

I absolutely adore plum toned shadows, as soon as I pulled this palette out of the package I was drawn to the cranberry shade on the top row, its such a beautiful shade and I really don't think I have anything like that in my collection.
The shadows themselves have great pigmentation and when I found out how little this retails for I was honestly shocked, the shades are not at all patchy and its almost as if your finger sinks into the pan when you swatch it!
BeautyUk brand review.
The only think i will say is that the gold shade on the bottom row is more of a chunky glitter than a shimmer shadow, which in my opinion is great but i thought id give you a heads up that to get the full effect from this shade you may want to use a flitter primer on the eye before applying.

Overall I do like BeautyUK as a brand and I think if you're just starting out with makeup then its perfect, I find that most of their products have a shade or tone to suit anyone which is really nice to see! I'm also not 100% if this brand is completely cruelty free but all of the products I have received do say on them that they are against animal testing, although like I say I don't want to confirm this.

Brushes I couldn't live without || Eyes.

Thursday, 16 March 2017

Eye brushes are something why I physically can not stop myself buying, idk, I guess admitting a problem is the first step so here's to hope hahah! Countless times have my family looking at my eyeshadow brushes and asked why I have 'so many that are the same' but in my eyes they are all completely different (again, fully aware I have a problem), so I though to prevent you turning out anything like me I would talk about my top eyeshadow brushes, my desert island brushes if you like...because you know,  if ya girl was on a dessert island of course makeup would be a priority *face palm emojo*

Morphe M433

This brush is a recent addition to the hairy family, I actually found this by being too cheap to pay out for the Mac 221 brush, I searched the web for a dupe which turned out to be the Zoeva 227, which I then searched again for a dupe of that, which low and behold is the M433 ! This brush is great for blending out a cut crease and makes it easier to be more precise with the shadows, it's also only £5.50 so I mean...who's complaining?

Zoeva 228

So this brush was actually one of the first 'high end' eye brushes that I had, I'm not sure if Zoeva is classed as high end but I mean, at £9 a brush it needs to be, what I'm trying to say is that it's one of the first that wasn't real techniques or Morphe. Every single time without fail that I do my eyeshadow I will use this brush, I normally use it for my  transition shade as it's the perfect size and fluffyness and to be honest, it pretty much does the work for me.

Sigma E40

This brush is another one which is quite recent, but I gen (I enjoy abbreviating words because I think it makes me look cool) do not know how I lived without this brush. Ok so yes that's probably a bit dramatic but you know when you smoke out your shadows and it just seems to have a solid line on the edge that will not blend out? Well yeah me too, and this brush is the saviour for that!

Bold metals 203

Genuinely only brought this brush for aesthetic reasons without reading any reviews prior, so I had no idea if it was good or not...but let me tell you that it was one of the best impulse buys I ever did do! I would not be able to do a cut crease without this brush as this is the only brush I have found which can blend out my darkest shade without spreading it out too much, it's also the perfect size for my crease so makes blending a lot easier.

Spectrum A13

I don't really know what to say about this brush as I feel like I'm repeating myself, but again, this brush is just the perfect size to blend out my under eye shadows! It's dense enough to pack on colour exactly where I want it but also not too dense so I'm still able to smoke the shades out a bit...it also looks cute, and I mean, for that reason alone it makes the cut.

Sigma E55

Short and sweet, this is the ONLY brush I will use to pack on colour to my lid, I have no idea how t works so well considering it's quite fluffy but it's incredible, honestly works as if I was using my finger to pack on the colour! This brush has to be my all time favourite brush ever, mainly because I just don't understand...idk.

If you're new to makeup then I hope this post helped you decide which brushes would be good to keep your kit small yet incredible, and if you are, like me, just addicted to makeup brushes, than I would like to publicly apologise for the lack of funds you probably have now...but girl at least those eyes will look fleeky!

Let me know your fav brushes in the comments!

Makeup Obsession palette review.

Thursday, 9 March 2017

So if you've been to your local boots recently you may have realised that they now have a stand dedicated to customisable palettes by makeup obsession, which I believe is  part of the 'TAM beauty' group best known for Makeup Revolution.
As well as single shadows for £2  they also sell panned lipsticks, highlighters, face powders, blushes, strobe balms and contour shades in so many different colours, so you really could create any type of palette you needed but for this review I will only be talking about the eyeshadows and blushes.

When I brought my palette there was actually an offer on which meant if you spent over £12 you would get the black 6 slot palette for free so I decided to do that, but if I brought another one I would defiantly go for the rose gold case as it was by far the prettiest. The cases retail at £4-£6 for the medium palette and £5- £8 for the 12 slot  large palette and to insert the pans you simply pop out of their small case and into the holes in the palette, no magnets or sticky backs are required which yes makes it easier but also means  it is not like the z palette where you can mix it with other brands.
The case has a good sized mirror which is an absolute necessity for an eyeshadow palette and to me feels pretty sturdy.
The case I have can be found HERE  or you can browse the others HERE.

As I worked in Boots over the Christmas period I had plenty of time and chance to play around with the shades and choose which ones I wanted in my palette, I decided to go really warm with reds and oranges as they are really popular colours at the moment and I wanted something like the Morphe 35O palette. I was so impressed with the range of colours and in the end got;
❤ 2 blush shades (£3)
 'Honey' (HERE) and 'Nude' (HERE).
❤ 3 Matte shades (£2)
'Pearl'(HERE),  'Bourbon Brown' (HERE)  and 'Burnt' (HERE).
❤ 1 shimmer shade (£2)
 'Cosmo' (HERE)

From top to bottom, Pearl, Nude, Honey, Cosmo, Burnt, Bourbon Brown.
As I had mattes, shimmers and blushes I have 3 different formulas to talk about so I will start with the matte shadows, I find mattes are the hardest to master as 7/10 times they end up being too chalky or have uneven pigmentation but I must say I was pleasantly surprised at how creamy and soft they were and how easily they blended out on my eye.
Next is the shimmer shades, it's very rare for me to not like a shimmer shade formulas as they are the easiest to perfect so what I tend to look for instead of pigmentation is how well they last on the eye and if they transfer or not, I found when I dampened my brush before applying the shadows they do stay out and last a lot longer than they do when applied by my finger tip.
Now the blush formulae, if I'm completely honest I did find them a little dry and quite  hard to use as an eyeshadow, which I mean  is understandable as they are not an eyeshadow but I have used blushes as shadows in the past which have worked great! The blush is a gorgeous colour and looks great on the cheeks but as an eyeshadow is too much work to blend out, again not something I can fault the company on as it's not its intended purpose.
I S   I T   W O R T H   IT ?

(Is it worth it can you work it, can you put it back down and reverse it) I'm literally not even funny I don't know why I try... but absolutely 100% yes this palette is worth every penny, the size of the pans are great and for £2 you really can not go wrong, it's also a good alternative for the z palette if you don't have that much money to spend but are after certain colours. I will defiantly be buying more palettes to try out the other products so if you would like a review on them as well then let me know in the comments!
